Should have come out a week ago!

/Puts hat back on head.

This would have been great for yesterday.

I feel so patriotic now.

cute!

Cute theme - I have to agree with everyone else on it being maybe a week too late. Maybe that would have made it too easy though! ;-)

FSK would be proud.

That was a really cleaver puzzle.

Cute one.

Can someone explain to me what the subway looking thing is? I mean, I got the answers by deduction, but don't see the connection or have a clue as to what it means.

[9] Gromit
More tanga numbers....

[10] Leadfoot
If I don't understand what that means, does that simply scream that I'm a noob? Or should I be able to figure out what that means?

[11] Gromit
In general the term "tanga numbers" refer to numbers that are applied to a "key" (sometimes the alphabet, sometimes a word - or words - in a puzzle) to help the solver to pick out the appropriate letters to form a word or words...

e.g. if the key is the alphabet then the numbers
3 1 20 would mean "cat"

If the key were your username then the numbers
6,2,5,4 would translate to "trim"

Often the trick to solving a puzzles here is to find the tanga numbers, and then finding the appropriate key to which to apply them.

If it helps, Gromit, I didn't understand the subway thing until I saw [10]. The idea behind "tanga numbers"--something of a misnomer because it was hardly invented here, but it's a common trick here--is that you use numbers as indexes into a word, i.e. you take the nth letter of a word.

So given, for instance, the phrase TANGA NUMBERS and the numbers "9 5 6 4", you take the 9th, 5th, 6th, and 4th letters to get BANG.

Gromit
And I didn't understand the subway thing until you told me it was a subway! :u)

By the time I got to those words I was just filling in the phrase...

Good puzzle, though I feel like I should have been standing for this one.

I didn't get the theme until I had solved over half the puzzle! I was wondering what was so patriotic about a subway.

Clever. Of course I had 3 answers left before I figured out the theme - helped me get 2 of them that I wasn't sure about.
