Edit: Nevermind. I got it. I had the great ape one wrong - still not sure how I was supposed to tell where that place was, but luckily, I guessed right from the other half.

[19] Try the seventh one by googling the name of city by the red star. For me, it was the fourth one that did it, although I didn't think it was correct at the time.

[22] Thanks! I don't think it is too salty, as anyone who knows the theme will probably be stuck at the same point. I guess maybe only naming the company, as opposed to the model might be less so, if you are worried.

How is one supposed to know the place for the first one? I was curious, so I searched for that same picture but couldn't find it. Is there something obvious in the picture that I missed? What's the source of the picture?
blahmcblah
Posted on Fri Jan 25, 2008 07:45 PM |
[36] No idea where it comes from, but you can probably get it by using half of the monkey. That's where knowing the theme helps :)

[37] I've solved the puzzle, so I know what it's what it's supposedly a picture of. But the picture is intended to be a clue. I don't understand how that picture is a clue to any specific place. What am I not seeing in the picture that clues the place?
escKey
Posted on Fri Jan 25, 2008 07:57 PM |
[40] I solved it, but I don't get how the title fits the puzzle. Each pair of images has something in common.

Posted on Fri Jan 25, 2008 07:57 PM |
I have read the theme a number of times and cannot relate it to the ones I actually think I have figured out the answers to...which is all but 4, but that does NOT mean that I have clue about what I am doing here. 1-3-5-9 are still a complete mystery to me.

94th at 55 minutes...I have to say the laptop and the monkey are REMARKABLY vague. A neat theme, not associated to the title as far as I can tell, but the first one took a lot of salt. Once again Blahmcblah rides to my rescue.
EDIT - And its nice to see Canada represented. Welcome, Eh?

still don't see how the title fits the theme, but that first picture would be better if it was a roast duck or something else. I had to guess based on the monkey.

Took a guess at the monkey clue and got it, but I don't see how some picture that looks like the wild west is supposed to get me to the answer. No salt here ... just confusion (wild west was way off!).
By the way, thanks to [22] for confirming my guess at the little PC picture.

the jewish one and the black-red-yellow flag one are both stumping me. I know the country that the flag represents, but can't make it fit with the only thing I know to call the other part... which also doesn't fit with the one it crosses. With the Jewish one, I know the state... but have no idea what the jewish symbolism is supposed to mean.

for those of you who missed the significance of the title, when you eat an ice cream cone you lap it. to do this with excessive zeal is to overlap

[57] I rarely lap ice cream :( I thought it was like "I scream = ice cream." Not exactly the same, but similar...

If you Google Image Search <x>, where <x> is the thing being clued by that vague picture above the monkey, you get the picture in the first page of results. But, like Philana, I don't know how you can possibly get from the picture to <x>; you might as well have just left it blank, given that the only way to get it was to work backwards from the monkey.
(Perhaps a picture of duck?)
Feel free to Tangagram me explaining the title, as well.
