edited - too salty.
It is hard to get a good clue without giving this away, but maybe if you look cross-eyed at the puzzle it would help.

Arnott, you are very evil tonight.
Or, in the words of Gomez Addams:
"Dirty pool old man - I like it!"
(the above has no salt, just a statement to A.)

You wanted salt. I gave it.
For example, #1 has nothing to do with bozo or lunch.

Take a look at the clues that APPEAR to be the same. there lies your answer on the theme. Than the answers just fall into place. 33rd and in awe of the knot once again.

OK ... I got it by figuring out all the words and fitting them into the spaces, but that seems kind of brute force. Was there a better way to solve this that I missed?

Yeah, I need help. Neither staring at the clues nor reading the hints in the comments are getting me anywhere. = (

It helps to make a list, but not necessary.
It's brilliant. The clues are always one step ahead of the entries.

I have a list, but everything I've tried doing with it hasn't worked.
