[6] Today is acutally a (semi) recognized holiday -- Video Game Day. (Not to be confused with "National Video Game Day", which is September 12th.) In honor of the occasion, I wanted to have some video game themed puzzles. For the most part, deep knowledge of the games will not be required.

[11] my comment in [5] is a big hint. Perhaps if you added an extra row of invaders on the top and bottom, it might help you?

Went away to try the hard puzzle (which I thought was easier than this) and then came back to solve this one. Don't know why I missed it earlier ... hit me like a lightning bolt now.

Yes, thank you [25]. I now understand the salt in [5], or at least which alley it was supposed to take me down. Unfortunately it took me down the wrong one until now.
I think I was hung up on the shots being fired by the invaders. I suppose if you ignore the invaders, you need to ignore their shots D'oh!
