[4] I'm not sure what you mean. Merriam-Webster shows this spelling and no other. It dates to the 14th century. They spell it differently where you live?

In my defence, a google of spelling it with an "o" instead of a "u" gives thousands of results. This only goes to show that there are spellers worse than me.
