The comment under the first picture is actually wrong. It should be "He wrote THE Satanic Verses". Otherwise he could be confused with a Scottish historian who died in 1905.

"Sir William Muir has been credited by some authors with inventing the phrase 'The Satanic Verses'." Note the "the" for him as well.
