Oh, I recognized that right away, I know the character on the lower left (my kids were young enough to be into that big time when it first came out)...
The lower left picture, the background clue, and the answer are all related. If you don't have any knowledge in that one particular area, then this puzzle is nearly impossible.
[1] Congrats to your son! I was struggling a bit, my 11 yr old heard me, took one look and said, "It's blah blah blah blah" (the answer anyway). Sigh, great minds think alike and I'm not one of them.

This puzzle was created by my ten year old son. I helped put the artwork together, but the clues are all his.

Think in terms of a 10 year old and pay special attention to the background image

Found the answer while trying to ID one of the pictures on wikipedia. (This isn't in my area of expertise at all!)

My problem was in not starting out with his full name.

Well, thank goodness my son got up and was able to identify the lower left picture. I would NEVER have gotten that on my own.

[1] Pretty amazing clues from a 10 year old! I have boys, so I got it just from the images.

Sadly, I know this phrase well, along with the kid's full name and the backgroud picture. Now my 11-year old will be mad I did it without 'em.

All you really need to solve this one is to get the first word (top clue) and the background. After that, Google can do your work for you.

I still can't figure out why I'm required to procure a large indoor shopping center.

[21] Thanks. I came back after having given up, and there it was, preserved in salt.

It would bee cool if the mods could set it up so that a 'smart quote' would work as an apostrophe. Nothing in my character palette will work.
