"Rise again" is definitely the version I knew, too, and it gets more Google hits; but this version's attested, and well-clued, so hey.

Yea, explanation in the solution would've been nice. Having done a lot of work with spirituals in my community choir helped me figure out the whole thing w/o salt, but I could see how word one could be a major trip-up point.
All-around great puzzle, though!

yeah, how do ya know to shorten word one? Second to last word had me stuck... thought it was something else for the longest time...
