Simpler than my first idea. I would like to share my first, convoluted solution:
Jets = J
Raiders = R
thus, we have "J R ?"
Obviously the ? is for Ewing, since JR Ewing was the main character on the show Dallas. Thus, the answer should have been "Cowboys"
Note: there is no salt in that. I just wanted to state how my mind was working this morning :-)
[5] At least yours was working in some way, lol! All I can come up with is a coach and a quarterback, with neither having been involved with a 3rd NFL team that I can see. Sigh.
Not really a puzzle at all...just a trivia question. And if you're not a football fan, or don't even have rudimentary knowledge of the sport, then this is just an exercise in frustration and futility. How did this one get past the mods?
so....these are two football helmets. the NY Jets. The Raiders - which, after I looked them up, play for Oakland. They both play for the AFC. I really want the answer to be "The Missing Link." Could someone help me with a direction to head on this puzzle?
NM. I got there. When I read the explanation, I thought it made sense from what was given, but maybe I am just too tired this morning.
Perhaps a better way to do this puzzle might have been to have shown all (or at least a seletion) of the helmets on the left side, and what they have as this puzzle on the right side. While brevity is the soul of wit, paucity of information can be the downfall of a puzzle.
[10] I got it on a guess too.
It would have been my first guess if I hadn't tried my team first (GO PACK!!).
I don't know why I chose correctly, as I wasn't consciously aware of knowing "the answer".

45 minutes, 3 solves, and no salt?

You need to figure out what the two shown have in common, and find the third with the same characteristic.

Not a football fan. Had to go to NFL.com and just type in all the team names until one worked.
Flimsy pretense....not really a very good puzzle.

Before I guessed the answer myself, I was wondering what third team was involved in the infamous Heidi game!
But to help others along - Focus on the location of the question mark.

This is not really a puzzle.
Thanks for the effort, though.

Good grief... there are a LOT more things in common than that.
HINT: Don't start on the west coast. :)

First I guessed Heidi, then got lucky and guessed the team where I live. LUCKY!!!
