Or those of us born before 1974 who have no clue what the 2nd pic is from?? For heaven's sake, there's nothing there that can be googled to get any usable results.
I have tried to google about everything you can think of, buck tooth character sitting on a rock, 1974 book cover, nothing that looks like that dude comes up.
is that a cave guy or a hairy cave gal?
tried some of the obvious answers but nada.
who is the rock person. sounds like...........
sounds like.....................
?????????????????
The character pictured is NOT a regular character, but rather a 1-shot for a pun. Using the above salt (particularly the year, as I knew the comic from the style) you can find one of two books that qualify. Once you have the titles, the proper one is obvious.
When I searched the books on Amazon by the author's name and the general name or his work, this book was the 12th match, and the title gave the "key" word.
I still think the first word of the answer is a bit of a stretch, though.
I have never been more frustrated by a puzzle. Even knowing what book the character was from (which seems impossible without the available salt)I couldn't get this. Mods, where were you?

You might have to have been born Before Christ or in British Columbia in order to find this book.

[9] That's where I went at first, but none of the characters looked like that, even the book covers that were shown. But I finally got it. Thanks!
