All I can tell is these sentences use poor grammar. :)

(Pronouns used as predicate nominatives are supposed to match those used as subjects - even though most people don't speak that way.)

[17] Nope... you need to use the words that are there. And think of that carpool mentioned in [15] being in a REALLY small car, where they have to be packed together as tightly as possible... perhaps even in each others' laps.
