My first inclination got me this:
CARINEASSH
which, given the stately theme, I chose to break up in pairs, which was going great for a while:
CA = California
RI = Rhode Island
NE = Nebraska
AS = American Samoa?? really, why go there??
SH = ?? Oh crap, this must be a wrong turn.
So, if you went that way, you're wrong. :)
