This D-Link AC1900 extender does what it’s designed to do pretty well. The speeds are great for an extender, as long as you have an AC1900 or similar router in your home. The range is about the same as other extenders I’ve used - it’s not a long-range device, but it’s definitely not disappointing either. Before I continue though, I should explain my current setup, which is a bit different than most.I currently have a home mesh Wi-Fi system that is not D-Link. There is a primary access point, and 2 other nodes plugged into wall outlets at various parts of the house. Both 2.4 & 5GHz bands work together using the same name. My devices work great all throughout the house. It’s a great system already, but my hope for this extender was to add an extra node to get a better signal outside my home, or at least extend my coverage from my primary access point. The first thing you’ll notice about this extender is that it is described as very simple to set up, and that is very true. If your router supports WPS already, you should be able to hit the WPS button on this extender and connect easily. My mesh system does not have this option, and so I set it up using the included app. Setup was a breeze. I was connected in a matter of minutes, and using the lights on the front as a guide, I positioned it in the best spot I could. The lights for signal strength are a nice touch, but not a necessity. You do not get a lot of options with this extender, however. This is not something for an enthusiast, or someone with a very specific setup, as you are unable to change channels or other advanced tasks. After setting it up, I went outside to test. My signal was stronger than ever, and I have a bit more range than I used to as well. I do not think it integrated into my mesh system as an extra node, which is no surprise considering the description stated that you need to have a D-Link mesh system, and I do not. However, it still extends off of my primary access point, which works well enough for what I wanted.Ultimately, I am satisfied with this working as a simple extender due to its speed and constant connection.

I picked this to extend the wifi range in my house.... so far it is doing the job with minimal latency. I have only seen around a 10-12ms latency increase in the worst case and average around 4ms when using this. This is a far cry better than my old extender that adds 10-50ms latency and didn't extend it as far.I am only using it with a 2.4Ghz & 5Ghz Wifi N because I don't have AC. Either way it works for me and it should work for you too.

Easy to set up first as repeater to my old Ubiquiti access point and also as a stand alone access point. I used the Dlink app on my iphone and it took about 5 minutes total. Performance seems fine..

The D-Link AC1900 mesh Wi-Fi Extender is a product that works well and will expand the coverage of your home or office Wi-Fi network.Pros:-- Good signal and range, I have no complaints about that.-- Good bandwidth due to its AC1900 technology.-- Dual band support, 2.4GHz & 5GHz.-- Can be paired with other Mesh D-Link devices and expand your Wi-Fi network with Roaming capabilities.-- Signal strength indicator (led) on the front.-- Gigabit ethernet port if you want to connect your wired devices to your Wi-Fi network.-- Super easy to set up and congfigure via the D-Link app.Cons:-- It has a big footprint, this thing is huge. Not sure why, I would assume that the hardware it's packing requires that much room.-- When you set up the network name that will be extended, it's a bit quirky and it doesn't accept some special characters. Not a very big deal though.Overall the D-Link AC1900 mesh Wi-Fi Extender is a great choice if you're looking to extend your Wi-Fi. It delivers speed, reliability and good range. If you already own mesh D-Link devices, then it makes even more sense to pick this one as well. 5 stars.

I had bought a different WiFi extender and did not improve. This one does a great job! Worth every penny!
