Description
In a magical realm a village awakes, and artisan dragons make coffee and cakes! In Flamecraft, 1-5 players take on the role of Flamekeepers, gathering items, placing dragons and casting enchantments to enhance the shops of the town. Dragons are specialized (bread, meat, iron, crystal, plant and potion) and the Flamekeepers know which shops are the best home for each. Visit a shop to gain items and a favor from one of the dragons there. Gathered items can be used to enchant a shop, gaining reputation and the favors of all the dragons in the shop. If you are fortunate enough to attract fancy dragons then you will have opportunities to secure even more reputation.

I played this at a convention last February and have been looking for it ever since. Really cute aesthetics, and the available actions from each stall gave a lot of variation to the game play. Some of the secret goals seemed a bit easier than others, but I really enjoyed it.

*Of note, I am playing with a 6 and 8 year old* The artwork is really nothing short of amazing. Each card is a beautiful, whimsical, piece of art. My youngest definitely prefers hoarding his favorite dragons rather than playing them because he gets so attached. Cons: Takes a long time to set up Pros: Pretty simple after you get the hang of it. It did take us a while to figure it out. That being said the directions are good. Both kids are able to play, but probably best for 8+ even with kids well versed in games. Totally worth it!

Yes, the art is beautiful and the punny names are fun, but the gameplay is great. We played with kids and then the adults wanted to play again after bedtime. Easy mechanics but plenty of strategy and lots of replayability with different shops, multiple enchantment decks, and the option to play with different companions. Including setup and cleanup, was almost exactly an hour every time we played. A new favorite we've been recommending to friends with and without kids.

adorable, wholesome, and so fun! my friends and i all stop playing constantly to go “awww look at the cute dragon!” would definitely be fun with kids, but my husband and i also play 2 player and it’s always fun! i’ve had a few games go way beyond an hour, and games under the hour estimated on the box, but it’s always fun the entire time :]

If you like strategy games like Catan, Ticket to Ride, Wingspan, etc, then you will love the aesthetically pleasing ~1 hour game Flamecraft. Use your dragons to visit stores and fire up their special abilities. Don't forget to pick up fancy dragons that give you bonuses. The village will assemble differently each time for varied game play!

This is my favorite board game I’ve played in a long time! It’s the perfect balance of simple and complex in terms of rules. The dragons and graphics are super cute, and instead of the usual cardboard board, it uses a soft mat for play.
