ProactivMD is a 3-step skincare system featuring Ultra-Gentle Cleanser, Adapalene Gel, and Ultra-Hydrating Moisturizer. This trio combines a prescription-strength retinoid with gentle, moisturizing formulas to treat and help prevent breakouts while soothing and hydrating skin.
Ultra-Gentle Cleanser, formulated especially for acne-prone skin, removes oil and dead skin cells and leaves skin feeling soft, refreshed, and hydrated. Adapalene Gel 0.1% is a renowned, prescription-strength retinoid that treats active acne and prevents new breakouts. Ultra-Hydrating Moisturizer restores skin’s moisture barrier, moisturizes for up to 8 hours, and reduces the appearance of redness and sensitivity that result from dry skin.
Adapalene is the star of this system – it’s the first FDA-approved, over-the-counter retinoid that treats acne — it works on a cellular level to encourage cell turnover and help prevent breakouts before they happen. Ultra-Gentle Cleanser features green tea extract, which is rich in antioxidants, soothes skin, and helps fight surface free radicals. Hyaluronic acid, a key player in our Ultra-Hydrating Moisturizer, is renowned for pulling moisture into the skin and helps alleviate dryness for softer, smoother-looking skin.
Use ProactivMD with Adapalene daily to help clear clogged pores and pimples and help prevent new acne. Simply cleanse and moisturize in the morning and then cleanse, treat, and moisturize at night.
How to Use:
Ultra-Gentle Cleanser:
Use as a daily face wash, morning and night. Dampen skin and apply a generous amount to the entire face (avoiding the eye area). Using your fingertips, gently massage into your skin for 1 to 2 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with warm water.
Adapalene Gel:
Use once daily, in the evenings, after washing with our face cleanser. Be sure skin is dry, then cover the entire affected area with a thin layer.
Ultra-Hydrating Moisturizer:
Use daily (morning, night, and as needed) to alleviate dryness. Can be worn alone or under makeup. If going outside, layer this hydrator underneath a sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher.

Appreciate that the guesswork of building my perfect skin care system has been done for me. These three products work very well together on my skin, it feels very soft and smooth. Always love a good scrubby-scrub, the Skin Smoothing Exfoliator is gentler and less gritty than I typically prefer, but it does the job, leaves my skin feeling so soft and clean and the scrubbies rinse away easily. I’m not sure about using it twice a day, that sounds like too much, at least for my skin, and so far I just use it once a day, maybe five times a week and that seems to work. Will for sure buy a bigger size. Second favorite is Complexion Hydrator – it feels really high-end and almost more like a primer than a typical lotion.

This trio is the perfect combo for acne prone skin. The ultra gentle cleanser is really gentle - the silky smooth gel cleanser feels great on your skin and really cleans my pores. Follow that up with the Ultra Hydrating moisture leaves my skin feeling great all day. The Adapalene gel works great as a spot treatment for any acne that I had. Overall, highly recommend this trio!

As my skin doesn’t always do well with BPO, I was very excited to try this new system. I don’t know too much about Adapalene except what I read on the package (used to be Rx) and that my skin tolerates it better than BPO and I get better results than with Sal Acid.. Yup – tried everything over the years on my adult acne, so far this is my favorite.

This is a great OTC product. I started with oily skin and some cystic acne as well as a few minor breakouts. After 2 days, my cystic acne was flat but still visible and my minor breakouts were gone. After a week of using my skin is noticeably healthier. My only dislike is the moisturizer is not as good as it should be. I ended up supplementing with cetaphil healing ointment at night and cerave am in the morning. This really helped my skin not be so dry. Overall I’d highly recommend

It helped me so much! I had to use the treatment lightly at first and every other day. After 30-40 days my breakouts are almost non existent at this point!
