Today, itâs fun with spoonerisms, named after the right Reverend William Archibald Spooner. Here are a few examples:
The lord is a shoving leopard (the lord is a loving shepherd).
The reverend to a lady says, âyouâll soon be had as a matter of courseâ (youâll soon be mad as a hatter of course).
And a spectacularly clever one: âIâd rather have a bottle in front oâ me than a prefrontal lobotomy.â
How about puzzle clues that incorporate spoonerisms? Some terrible ones of mine below. Add your own, of course.
Cereal for smut police (?? ??)
Insulting anti-aircraft fire relived (???)
Gives up adolescent summer footwear on a big birthday (??? ???)
Sorcererâs catastrophic hodge-podge (??? ??)
Now tangafy (5-5-9-6) for some slang. 10 Tanga points to the first poster with the correct answer.
