Inc. Magazine Names Tanga to Inc. 5000 List of America’s Fastest-Growing Private Companies
CHANDLER, AZ, September 13, 2016 — For the third year in a row, Inc. magazine ranked Tanga.com as part of its annual Inc. 500|5000, an exclusive ranking of the nation’s fastest-growing private companies. Tanga’s three year sales growth of 162% earned them entry to the list that has featured companies such as Yelp, Pandora, Timberland, Dell, Domino’s Pizza, LinkedIn, and Zillow in the past.
“Since bootstrapping this ‘garage startup’, we’ve worked hard to build Tanga to become the marketplace for deal-seeker,” said Jeremy Young, CEO and founder of Tanga. “Being recognized on the Inc. 5000 list for three years in a row has been a huge motivation for our small company. We’re so grateful for our loyal customers that have saved millions of dollars with our deals.”
After a failed business in 2006 left Jeremy Young with inventory to move, he launched Tanga.com to sell off his stockpile of goods, one item each day at 50% or more off retail price. Customers clamored for more discounted items, so Young added products from all verticals. Since that time, millions of customers have enjoyed Tanga’s daily deals on mainstream brands at liquidation prices.
Tanga’s marketplace business model stands apart in the industry as the company caters to a different customer. Unlike large marketplaces that rely on considered purchases, Tanga tempts shoppers with an impulse treasure hunt on a budget. And while competitors turn to machines to make sense of shopper patterns, Tanga brings the warmth of human interaction back into the digital experience. For nearly a decade, Tanga has been on a mission to reinvent the experience of online shopping. It is moving rapidly towards the fulfillment of its mission of “Matching Products to People” through what is internally referred to as “the secret sauce” – a vision of personalization supported by the human touch.
“What surprises me, even though I know it’s coming, is the sheer variety of the paths our entrepreneurs take to success, thematically reflecting how our economy has evolved,” says Inc. President and Editor-In-Chief Eric Schurenberg. “What doesn’t change is the fearsome creativity unleashed by American entrepreneurship.”
Tanga will be honored at the annual Inc. 5000 event held October 18-20 in San Antonio, Texas. For more information on Inc. and the Inc. 5000 Conference, visit http://www.inc.com/.
