There is a bottom portion of this bowl that goes up and down. Makes it near impossible to clean the inside of the bowl. I threw mine away after weeks of being frustrated. It is however very tip proof so does not knock over easily.

Similar to other reviews, the water bowl worked great, but started smelling. Needs to be washed a lot to avoid stinky water!!

So we bought this bowl on a recommendation from the receptionist at our vet office our dogs are short nose and they slobber everywhere when drinking or it seems like they take a big gulp and just walk away with it so in theory this should work for our dogs, except it was very hard to teach them how to drink out of it they just weren’t interested. They kept thinking their bowl was empty. The few times they used it it was fine. We winded up setting out another water bowl because they didn’t use it. The one thing we did notice is , after a few days, I picked it up and went to rinse it out and it smelt rancid. I dump the water out and it was so gross and that was only after a couple of days but since they weren’t really using it, we didn’t think it was dirty. We cleaned it and tried it again and they just had no interest in using it so we’re just going to toss it.. I guess if you use this starting with a puppy, it might be OK but we had a senior dog who has since passed and a three year-old who is very stubborn, and they just both were not willing to use it

I like the concept, but we've got 4 XL dogs and we're having to refill 6-8 times a day. Opening the top and cleaning and refilling is not a real quick process. They do definitely cut down on the water on the floor and help our St. Bernard and Newfoundland have less water on their chin and neck after drinking but the refilling process so many times a day make it not the ideal solution for our use. I'd love to see the float part made to be used in a 5 gallon bucket.

Worked pretty well overall! BUT my dog's chin broke out due to the plastic floater piece even though it is BPA free.

I received this item and it looks like it will work, however it is missing the 'fuzzy tabs' to be able to attach it to a solid base. I may end up returning it if I do not hear from the seller.

After bringing home my 8 week old German Shepherd, I thought it would be a good idea to get him used to this bowl from the word go. After just 2 days he learnt to put both of his front paws in the bowl to push the floating disc down in order to bring up more water. This meant that every time he took a drink he would walk wet paw prints over the kitchen. In the end after 4 days I decided to take the floating disc out and use it as a normal water bowl. Using it this way is better for me because he doesn't put his paws now and it's better than a normal bowl due to the high sides and black sloping lip. On this basis I give 3 stars. If my GSD didn't put his paws in and used it like how it should be used, it would get 4!
